Clinical research into this area is moving at a rapid pace. Some early promises have proven to be really useful and some research is slower to bear fruit.

GPs see some illnesses and cancers that can run in families, whilst many illnesses are random events.

Using new insights into Genetics in Medicine, your GPs can advise you and your families about genetic risks that are manageable at a Family Practice level. If necessary, we will involve and make referrals to suitable counselling, investigations and liase with the Centre for Clinical Genetics, at OLHSC, Crumlin or Hospital Clinical Research clinics.
