Screening for Heart Disease, Stroke and Diabetes

Screening for Heart Disease, Stroke and Diabetes Heart disease, stroke and diabetes are major causes of illness and death in Ireland. Rates of the metabolic syndrome, pre-diabetes or high cholesterol syndromes are increasing.

Screening includes a tailored vascular symptom screen, a family history risk assessment, looking particularly for any history of premature cardio-vascular disease, diabetes, cholesterol and cerebro-vascular diseases assessment of cigarette smoke exposure, excess alcohol intake, recreational drug exposure, assessment of diet and regular exercise levels.

Cardiac and Circulation Pulses assessment Blood tests for cholesterol, blood bugar, renal and liver profile Cardiac ECG screen Optional screens, to be arranged, if appropriate, carotid artery dopplers, aortic aneurysm ultrasound screening, cardiac echocadiogram, cardiac CT scans and exercise stress tests.

We offer an appointment with a doctor for consultation and blood tests and an ECG with our nurse. Cost is 100 euro for private patients.

There is a fee of 10 euro for medical card patients.

Follow up of any problems identified after initial screening may incur additional charges at usual rates.
