Jane was educated at Loreto College Foxrock and University College Dublin and graduated in 1998. She completed her internship in Medicine doing Nephrology attached to the Dialysis Unit in Tallaght Hospital and in Surgery, Urology and Trauma Orthopaedics in Limerick Regional Hospital. She worked in hospital jobs in General Medicine & Rheumatology in St.James hospital , Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Neonatology at The National Maternity Hospital, Holles street and Paediatrics in Temple Street Hospital and Community Psychiatry at Naas hospital with outlying clinics in South Kildare.

She did her training as a General Practice Registrar in Scotland at Mackenzie Medical Centre at the University of Edinburgh and stayed in Edinburgh working in NHS practices until 2005. On her return to Dublin she worked in Scholarstown Family Practice in Rathfarnham until 2008 and in Slievemore Medical Centre until 2012. She returned to Edinburgh and worked in SIghthill Health Centre and Inverleith Medical Practice in Edinburgh until her return to Ireland in 2017.

Jane is married and has one son.
