Sinead graduated from University College Cork in 1989. She trained in Internal Medicine in the UK before moving to Australia in 1992, where she continued her training in The Prince Charles Hospital and Royal Brisbane Hospital in Queensland. She was awarded a Queensland Cancer Fund Research Fellowship in 1995 and completed a PhD in Queensland Institute of Medical Research in 2000 in the area of malignant melanoma genetics. She also trained in General Practice in Australia and worked in many urban and remote locations there. Sinead came back to Ireland in 2006 and has been working in General Practice in Dublin since then. She is married with three teenage children.
